Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the needs of preschool children’s’ career in year of 2014-15 in Isfahan city. The design was exploratory-descriptive. In this study 377 preschool children’s’ parents selected by using multistage cluster sampling. Data was collected by preschool children’s’ career needs questionnaire with 91 items(khorasani, 2015). The questionnaire reliability coefficient was 0/96 based on Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and the content validity of the questionnaire was confirmed. The analysis of data was by descriptive statistics and analysis of independent sample T test by using SPSS-18. After analysis of descriptive data, preschool children’s career needs obtained in order of priority: Attachment and emotional support, career confidence, career control, the effect of parental role models, career self-awareness, career concern/curiosity, increasing parents’ knowledge of children’s career. Also the results indicated that there was no significant differences between both genders and both age ranges(5-6 and 6-7) in priority of preschool children’s career needs (p<0/05). Implications for career development efforts and preschool children’s’ career education suggested.

Abstract

Purpose: The present study aimed to investigate the effect of socio-dynamic counseling on the vocational identity of Isfahan university students. Methods: For this study, quasi-experimental method, with pretest-posttest and follow-up design, and a control group were used. The study population included all of the students at Isfahan university who were studying for their bachelor’s degree during the year 2015-2016. In this study, 30 subjects were randomly selected through voluntary sampling and were divided into two experimental and control groups (15 subjects in each group). The experimental group underwent socio dynamic counseling, but the control group did not receive any interventions. Data were collected using My Vocational Identity Scale (MVS) of Holland, Digger and Power (1980) and analyzed using SPSS-22 and analysis of variance through repeated measures. Findings: The results showed that socio-dynamic counseling had a significant effect on the vocational identity of students in post-test and follow-up stages (p0.05). The results also showed that socio-dynamic counseling had a significant effect on the vocational information and environmental and personal barriers (p0.05). Conclusions: The results suggested that socio-dynamic counseling could be used as an auxiliary process in career counseling and education.

Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the mediating role of career adaptability in relationship between emotional intelligence and career decision making difficulties among 9th grade students. Methods: This was a correlational research that using structural equation modeling. The statistical population consisted of 9th grade students of Qazvin province in the academic year 2016-17. The sample consisted of 433 students (206 boys and 227 girls) selected by multi-stage random cluster sampling. Measures included Career Adaptability Scale, Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory, and Decision Making Difficulties Questionnaire. The data were calculated using Pearson correlation coefficients (using SPSS-24), and structural equation modeling. The statistical significance of indirect effects also was calculated by bootstrapping method (using AMOS24). Findings: The results of this study showed that most of the overall -0.67 for the emotional intelligence on decision-making difficulties was indirectly due to the mediation of career adaptability (β = -0.41, p <0.001), while a part of it was more directly (β = -0.26, p <0.001). The conceptual model also showed a significant fit with the data (SRMR = 0.03; RMSEA = 0.06). The results of the comparison of total fit and path coefficients among girls and boys also showed that the research model is same for both groups (p <0.11). Conclusion: In line with the career adaption model, the results of this study showed that a major part of the effects of social and emotional meta-capacities on the reduction of the incompatibility of career adaptive responses can be explained by the mobilization of psychosocial resources in the management of career related tasks, transitions and crises.

Abstract

Aim: the aim of this research was to investigate the effect of Hope Therapy on mental health and meaning in life of depressed teenage girls. Methods: The research method was semi-experimental with pretest-posttest, and control group. The statistical population included all high school girls in Isfahan in 2016 and the statistical sample of the study included 24 girls who were selected by cluster sampling method and whose score on Beck-2 depression questionnaire was between 16 to 46, and who were diagnosed with depression through clinical interviews. These individuals were randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups. Afterwards, Hope Therapy was performed in a group format in 8 steps for the subjects in the experimental group, while the  control group did not receive any interventions. General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) and Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ) were used in the pretest and posttest stages. Multivariate analysis of covariance was used to analyze the data. Findings: The findings showed that group hope-therapy had a significant effect on increasing mental health and meaning in life of depressed girls in the experimental group. Conclusion: It can be concluded that hope therapy base on group can be an effective intervention in promoting mental health and meaning of life of depressed adolescent girls.

Abstract

Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between work meanings and subjective well-being through job satisfaction in Isfahan Oil Refining Company Staff. Methods: In this study, 280 stuff members at Esfahan Oil Refinery were selected through sampling of quotas. The participants took job satisfaction, subjective well-being, and work meaning questionnaires. For the data analysis, the descriptive statistics method and structural equation modeling were used.  The mediating role were tested via bootstrapping test. Findings: The results showed that job orientation and career orientation directly influence subjective well-being. Job orientation has significant negative effect on subjective well-being (p<0.05), and career orientation has significant positive effect on subjective well-being (p<0.001). Calling orientation has indirect effect on subjective well-being through job satisfaction (p<0.01). The mediating role of job satisfaction in the relationship between job and career orientation with subjective well-being was not significant. Conclusions: Overall, the findings showed that amongst different meanings of work, providing daily living expenses and to progress, has direct influence on subjective well-being, while career mission through work satisfaction has an indirect effect on subjective well-being.

Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of adolescent-reasoned mindfulness (MBCT) and emotionally focused therapy (EFT) on self-esteem and sleep Disorder of bereaved adolescents. Methods: The study had a quasi-experimental design, with a post-test, pretest design, control group, and follow- up phase. The statistical population of bereaved adolescents referred to the counseling clinics department of education in city of Shiraz during the year 2017-2018. From among this population, 48 were selected through available sampling and were randomly divided into two experimental groups, adolescent-centered mindfulness and, emotionally focused therapy, in addition to a control group. One experimental group received adolescent-centered mindfulness for 10 one-hour long sessions, while the second experimental group received emotionally-focused therapy for 8 one-hour long sessions. The subjects were evaluated with Self-Esteem Questionnaire (SEI , 1989) and Sleep Disorder Questionnaire (PSQI, 1967) before the initiation of treatment. Fourty-five days following the conclusion of group training, a follow-up was performed. The control group had no group education. Data were analyzed using repeated measures. Results: Results showed that the use of adolescent-centered mindfulness and emotionally-focused therapy is effective on self-esteem and sleep disorder of bereaved adolescents (p<0/05). The effect of adolescent-centered mindfulness were greater than emotionally-focused therapy and the changes were stable through the time. Conclusions: According to this study, it can be concluded that both adolescent-centered mindfulness training and emotionally-focused interventios are effective for self-esteem and sleeping problems in adolescents, and that adolescent-centered mindfulness was more effective in increasing self-esteem and reducing sleeping proglems.

Abstract

Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of career adaptability counseling  on academic engagement  and performance. Methods: The method of this study was quasi-experimental with pre-test, post-test and follow up design with a control group. The statistical population of the study consisted of all first-grade male students in Isfahan middle schools in the 2017-18 academic year. Fifty students were randomly selected and allocated randomly into two experimental (n=25) and control (n=25) groups. Pre-test was performed for both groups. The experimental group received seven 75-minute career adaptability counseling sessions using Savikas’s career counseling method (Hartong & Vess, 2016). The post-test was administered at the end of counseling sessions. Then the follow-up test was performed for both groups after one month. Academic engagement questionnaire (Arshambolt, et al., 2009) was used to measure the academic engagement. Also, the mean grades on final exam during the first semester  and on the midterm exam in the second semester were considered as post-test evaluation. Similarly, second semester final exam grades were used as follow up of students' academic performance. The results of variance analysis with repeated measurement indicated that career adaptability counseling  had an impact on academic engagement and performance. Furthermore, paired comparison test in three stages of pre-test, post-test and follow-up showed that the mean scores increased in the post-test (p <0.01) and remained stable into the follow-up. The results of the present study indicate that career adaptability counseling is an effective method for increasing the impact of academic engagement and performance.

Abstract

Abstract
Aim: The aim of the current study was a comparison between the effect of career adaptability education to preschool children and attachment-based counseling to their parents on children’s’ career development in Isfahan city. Methods: Statistical population including all of preschool children, aged 5 to 7 and parents of 5 to 7-year-old preschool children in Isfahan city. 30 preschool children, aged 5 to 7 selected voluntary and randomly divided to two experiment and control groups (10 children in each group). Data was gathered by using preschool children’s’ career development questionnaire. The parent group received the Attachment-based counseling and the children group received the Career adaptability education both in 8 sessions and The control group did not receive any education. Data was analyzed by using SPSS-18 and analysis of covariance. Findings: The results showed that both career education to children and parents has significant effect on children’s’ career development (P<0.001), and It was no significant differences between the effect of two methods (P<0/05). Also the secondary finding from research suggest that two methods had significant effect on time perspective, internal curiosity, information and external curiosity (P<0/05). Conclusion: Therefore, the research findings illustrated that career educations to children and parents can have beneficial result on childrenchr('39')s career development.

Abstract

Aim: The research aimed to study the effectiveness of hope therapy on dimensions of quality of Life and self-esteem in depressed adolescent girls. Methods: For this purpose, a quasi-experimental pretest, posttest with control group was used. The statistical population included all adolescent girls studying in the academic year 2016-2017 in Isfahan, from which 24 depressed girls (12 in the experimental group, 12 in the control group) were selected through cluster sampling and according to the selection criteria. The intervention method included 8 sessions of hope therapy that was implemented for experimental group. In order to assess variables, Beck Depression Inventory 2 (Beck, 1996), Quality of Life Questionnaire (World Health Organization, 1996) and Self-Esteem Questionnaire (Coopersmith, 1967) were used. The data analysis conducted by multivariate analysis of covariance with pretest, posttest, and control groups. Finding: The findings showed a significant increase in the mean scores of dimensions of quality of life including physical health (F= 0.36, p<0.05), mental health (F= 0.30, p<0.05), social relations (F= 0.35, p<0.05), and perception of living environment (F= 0.32, p<0.05) in depressed girls. Also, the result showed a significant increase in the mean scores of academic self-esteem (F= 0.44, p<0.05), and self-esteem (F= 0.40., p<0.05) in these students. Conclusion: Therefore, hope therapy is effective in increasing self-esteem and quality of life in depressed adolescent girls and can be used in schools and counseling centers to reduce depression by designing educational and cultural programs focusing on hope, preventing depression in adolescents, and improving their quality of life and self-esteem.

Abstract

Aim: Aim the present stady was aimed at compareing the effects of career counseling methed based on Holland`s theory, social cognitive career theory, and solution-focused counseling on career well-being of high school students in Isfahan city.  Methods: The research methodology was, semi- experimental method with pre-test design post- test is and follow-up with the control group. The statistical population of all secondary school students in Isfahan was in the 98-97 academic year. The sampling was done in three steps. using simple random sampling, 10 subjects were selected for each group. Based on this, 3 experimental groups of boys with a control group and 3 experimental groups of girls with a control group were formed. Findings: The results indicated that, there is a significant difference between the experimental and control groups regarding (p<0/001) the career well-being. The difference between the grades of the eight groups indicated that the interventions based on the career counseling based on Holland`s theory, social cognitive, and solution-focused on necessity objective square tests occupational autonomy professional growth positive organizational relationships. Conclusion: The counseling method of social cognitive career and circuit - oriented solution is more effective in counseling with students.

Abstract

 
Aim: The purpose of the current study was to investigate the mediating role of job search self-efficacy, complexity perception, and luck readiness variables in the relationship between career adaptability and employability among Iranian job seekers. Methods: Data gathered using volunteer sampling and recruited a sample of 719 Iranian job seekers. The data was analysed using structural equation modeling. They were administered Career Adapt-Abilities Scale, Job Search Self-Efficacy Scale, Complexity Perception Index, Luck Readiness Index, and Employability Scale. Finding: The results showed that the effect coefficients of career adaptability on job search self-efficacy (γ = 0.75 and p< 0.001), complexity perception (γ = 0.64 and p< 0.001), luck readiness (γ = 0.88 and p< 0.001), were statistically significant. Furthermore, the effect coefficients of job search self-efficacy (β = 0.39 and p< 0.001), complexity perception (β = 0.17 and p< 0.001), and luck readiness (β = 0.6 and p< 0.001) on employability, as an endogenous dependent variable, were statistically significant. Career adaptability was also indirectly related to employability through these variables. Conclusion: In general, according to the findings of this study based on the existence of an indirect relationship between career adaptability and employability, it should be noted that in order to increase employability, it is necessary not only to pay attention to adaptability, but also to strategies for increasing job search self-efficacy, perception of complexity based on an open thinking system, and readiness for luck.
