Abstract

The main objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between attachment styles and marital commitment in people who have committed adultery in the marital relationship. Methods: This study was correlational. The study population included all individuals who commit disloyalty to have been married in the spring of 95 were referred to counseling centers in Tehran, where 428 people were selected using a hand. To collect the data, Hazan and Shaver adult attachment style and marital commitment Adams and Jones were used. The data correlation and regression analysis using software PLS-3 been done. Results: The results revealed that attachment styles can commit 13% of unfaithful people predict changes . Regression analysis anxious attachment style (01 / 0p≤) and regression coefficient avoidant attachment style (05 / 0p≤) on marital commitment is significant. Secure attachment style was not significant, but the regression coefficient. Since marriage and choice of spouse is living one of the most important decisions with regard to the role of insecure attachment styles predict the anxiety and avoidance, should be The identification of these two variables in pre-marriage counseling as well as training parents on child education and stressed that attachment styles.

Abstract

Objective: The aim of this research was to determine the effectiveness of child- centered play therapy with approach Axline training on hopelessness and loneliness in children with hearing impairment

Method: The research method was quasi-experimental with pre-test and posttest design and control group. The population of this research of female students with hearing impairment studying at primary school in Mashhad City. Thirty students were selected by available  sampling and randomly assigned to one experimental (n=15) and one control (n=15) group. To collect data, Kazdin hopelessness scale and Asher solitude scale were used. The experimental group received 8 sessions of child- centered play therapy with approach Axline training . The data were analyzed by SPSS software, using ANCOVA.

Results: . The data analyses by ANCOVA showed  that there were significantly decrease in mean scores of hopelessness and loneliness in experimental group (P< 0.05).

Conclusions: It can be concluded that child- centered play therapy is an effective intervention method in decreasing on hopelessness and loneliness in children with hearing impairment.

Abstract

Purpose: The present research aimed to study the effect of cognitive analytic therapy on the self-efficacy and interpersonal problems of women with dependent personality disorder. Methods: The present research was a quasi-experimental study with the pretest-posttest design. Subjects of the experimental group consisted of all women in Tehran aged 19 to 40 years of age who had referred to Azad University counseling centers (Roodehen branch), Tonekaboni counseling center, and researcher’s counseling office. They were selected after being recognized as having dependent personality disorder through Millon Personality Test. They were administered with ten cognitive-analytic therapy sessions, while those in the control group did not received the treatment. All subjects filled out the Sherer (1982) General Self-Efficacy Scale and the Barkham (1996) Inventory of Interpersonal Problems before and one month after the intervention. Findings: The results showed that cognitive-analytic therapy was significantly effective in increasing the self-efficacy and reducing the interpersonal problems of subjects in the test group (P<0.0001). The study findings indicated the effectiveness of cognitive analytic therapy in increasing the self-efficacy and reducing the interpersonal problems of women with dependent personality disorder. Conclusions: This approach can be used by mental health professionals for improving the symptoms of this disorder among Iranian women.

Abstract

Aim: This study was to examine the effectiveness of education for parent with Adlerian approach in reducing feeling of guilt and improving psychological well-being in children with depression. The method of this research was quasi experimental with pre-test/post-test design, with a control group. The statistical population consisted of all sixth-grade students in elementary school of Kamyaran, Kurdistan, Iran during the academic year 2017-2018. Using randomized cluster sampling, two schools (for boys and girls)  were selected and 60 parents whose children showed signs of depression were placed into experimental and control groups. The experimental group went through 8 ninety-minute sessions of parent education with Adlerian approach. In both groups, parents’ children answered two questionnaires that were designed based on Ryff’s psychological well-being scales (2002) and Izonk’s guilt and shame scales (2007). The data was analyzed with mixed-design analysis of variance. Accordingly, the findings have shown that the average scores of post-test and follow-up of the feelings of guilt for students in theexperimental group decreased and their psychological well-being improved significantly. Therefore, parent education that employs Adlerian approach has been effective in decreasing guilt in depressed children and improving their psychological well-being

Abstract

Aim: One of the most important factors influencing the stability and growth of family is marital adjustment. Marital adjustment refers to a situation in which couples often are concerned about each other’s welfare and satisfaction, which this process is established during the couples' life. Current research is aimed at studying the effect of relationship enhancement program training on increasing women' marital adjustment for women under the support of Imam Khomeyni Foundation. For this purpose, an experimental design with a pretest-posttest and control group was used. Among women volunteered to participate in the sessions, 40 individuals were chosen and randomly assigned into two experimental and control groups. The experimental group received relationship enhancement program training during six 90-minute sessions, while the control group received no training. Participants from both groups completed Spanier' marital adjustment questionnaire. Results from analysis of covariance and independent samples t-test showed that group relationship enhancement program training sessions significantly increased marital adjustment and its dimensions (satisfaction, cohesion, consolation and affection expression).

Abstract

Aim: Mindfulness, as a new therapy method, has its roots in the culture of the East. The aim of this study is to identify the cultural and mindfulness-based metaphors in the Rumi's Masnavi (three chapters of first book). Methods: The current research analyzes the content of the above-mentioned section of Masnavi. The sampling was targeted and 1027 metaphors were identified. The metaphors attributed to the 9 components of mindfulness were identified, and their abundance was also cosidered. MAXQDA coding software was used to analyze the extracted data. Findings: The investigations showed that the number of the metaphors in the first chapter was two times more than the second and third chapters. The metaphors related to the components of mindfulness according to the number were sorted as follows: the non-striving, trust (confidence), non-judging, generoslty (kindness), patience, acceptance and gratitude, beginner's mind and letting go. In other words, the non-striving and letting go were respectively used most and least frequently. The sub-components of surrender, non-fighting and silence were identified for the non-striving component. The sub-components of insight, inclusiveness, and non-comparing was distinguished for the non-judging component . In addition, based on the researched metaphors and the concept of mindfulness, four new components of awareful action, observation and describing, understand (empathy) and balance, as other components of mindfulness were also discovered. Conclusion: For the means of facilitating the conveyance of concepts, education and therapy with cognitive-based mindfulness, it is suggested that  therapists and counselors use the folk and cultural metaphors in the poems of Rumi.

Abstract

Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of career adaptability counseling  on academic engagement  and performance. Methods: The method of this study was quasi-experimental with pre-test, post-test and follow up design with a control group. The statistical population of the study consisted of all first-grade male students in Isfahan middle schools in the 2017-18 academic year. Fifty students were randomly selected and allocated randomly into two experimental (n=25) and control (n=25) groups. Pre-test was performed for both groups. The experimental group received seven 75-minute career adaptability counseling sessions using Savikas’s career counseling method (Hartong & Vess, 2016). The post-test was administered at the end of counseling sessions. Then the follow-up test was performed for both groups after one month. Academic engagement questionnaire (Arshambolt, et al., 2009) was used to measure the academic engagement. Also, the mean grades on final exam during the first semester  and on the midterm exam in the second semester were considered as post-test evaluation. Similarly, second semester final exam grades were used as follow up of students' academic performance. The results of variance analysis with repeated measurement indicated that career adaptability counseling  had an impact on academic engagement and performance. Furthermore, paired comparison test in three stages of pre-test, post-test and follow-up showed that the mean scores increased in the post-test (p <0.01) and remained stable into the follow-up. The results of the present study indicate that career adaptability counseling is an effective method for increasing the impact of academic engagement and performance.

Abstract

Aim: Successful marriage is the foundation of establishing a stable family. This study was carried out to provide a successful marriage paradigm. Methods: The study was conducted through a qualitative methodology applying grounded theory. The participants of the study were all couples who were living in city of Ahvaz during 2019. To select the participants in this study, a purposeful sampling was administered and as the study advanced, sampling of the desired cases continued until theoretical saturation was reached. At the end, 22 individuals (11 couples) were interviewed using open-ended or structureless questions.  Findings: In grounded theory, data analysis consists of coding the data. Using open coding resulted in 83 initial codes, while using axial coding produced 23 main categories. The  concept of successful marriage was elicited as a central, transparent and explicit category. Conclusion: We can draw a conclusion that a successful marriage is hinged on a thorough and comprehensive transparency of the issues involved in a marital relationship. That is to say either couple expresses openly what they have experienced, not leaving anything vague and ambiguous so that they don’t get the urge to decode and discover it. The paradigm obtained from this study can be used in teaching couples in premarital counseling sessions. It can also be used to treat upset couples and those couples who want to enrich their relationship.

Abstract

Aim: This research investigates the effectiveness of mindful parenting training on mental health and parenting competence for mothers of children with special needs. Methods: This quasi-experimental research was performed using pretest/post-test and control group and statistical population included all of the mothers of children with special needs in Dezful who were studying at exceptional schools during the years 2016-2017. A total of 49 mothers were selected through convenience sampling method and  put into two experimental (25) and control (24) groups. control group. The pretest was implemented for both groups. The experimental group had nine 90-minute educational classes about mindful parenting. Following the educational classes,  the post-test was implemented. The surveys used in this research included Symptoms Checklist 90-Revised (SCL-90-R) and Parenting Sense of Competence (PSOC). Data were analyzed using analysis of covariance. Findings: The results indicated the effectiveness of mindful parenting training on mental health and parenting competence on mothers of children with special needs (p < 0.05). Conclusion: This method is effective and useful to improve the mental health of families with children with special needs.

Abstract

Aim: The purpose of this study was to predict being abused in close relationship based on communicational patterns and fear of intimacy in married women. The method of this research is descriptive-correlational. Methods: This study was a correlation study, in which 300 married women in Tehran were selected through convenience sampling and they completed the Communication Patterns Questionnaire – short form (CPQ- SF) (Christense & Heavy, 1990), Fear of intimacy scale (Descatner & Thelen, 1991), and the Spouse abuse questionnaire (Gahary, Atefvahid & Yoosefy, 2006). The data was analyzed using Pearson correlation and regression. Findings: Study showed that there was a significant positive relation between female demands, male withdrawal, and being abused (r=%236; P≤000). Also there was a significant positive relation between male demanding, female withdraws (r=%324; P≤0/01), female demand, male withdraw (r=%131; P≤0/05), positive interaction pattern (r=%214; P≤0/01), withdraw with fear of intimacy. Positive interaction pattern (r=%194; P≤0/001) and female demand, male withdraw pattern (r=%236; P≤000) predicted being abused. Findings: As a result, it can be said that the communication pattern of female demand, male withdraw and positive interaction pattern of a couple's relationship can create a challenge that causes spousal abuse.

Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Emotional Couple Therapy Training (Hold Me Tight) on couples' emotional abuse. Methods: The current study was an experimental ABA single-subject design investigation. The statistical population consisted of all couples who had attended counseling centers in city of Bojnord (Iran) during 2021. From this population, three couples who had met the inclusion criteria were purposefully selected. The Emotional Abuse Scale (EAS) was used to collect data in three stages (baseline, intervention, and follow-up). The intervention consisted of the emotional couple therapy training (hold me tight) that was administered in eight 120-minute sessions for each of the 3 pair of couples. Data analysis primarily included visual analyses, such as level, trend, and variability at three stages of baseline, intervention, and follow-up, both as within-condition, and between-condition layers. Findings: Results showed that the emotional couple therapy training (Hold Me Tight) is effective in reducing emotional abuse. The effectiveness of the results lasted for two months after the intervention. Conclusion: Given the effectiveness of emotional couple therapy, therapists are recommended to draw on this protocol to help couples struggling with emotional problems such as abuse and violence.

Abstract

Aim: The purpose of this research is to provide a model of school counseling services based on the conditions and implications of the grounded theory to help school counselors use appropriate services for the integrated development of students. Methods: The research method was a qualitative research that was conducted using the grounded theory approach. Semi-structured interviews and the translation of authentic school counseling documents were used in this study to collect data. Eight professional school counselors with doctoral degrees in counseling, who worked in schools as a school counselor for more than 10 years, and many of whom teach at universities, participated in this study.Results: The findings of this research are based on the field of grounded theory, including concepts of the factors and consequences of school counseling services. These concepts include: developmental needs of students, professional competence of school counselors, necessity of family awareness, cultural context, family lifestyle, education policy, entrance exam phenomenon, psychiatrists and drug prescription, therapeutic attitude instead of preventive attitude, non-governmental institutions and schools, student standards, and counselor standards. Conclusions: The findings of the research showed that the provision of school counseling services should be based on the developmental needs of students, the cultural context and lifestyle of families should be considered, school counselors should have the necessary standards to provide services, and finally, direct and indirect counseling services. The school should be provided in a specialized manner and in a regular framework to facilitate the integrated growth of students.
