Abstract

Alaminiya, M – Eskandari, H – Borjali, A The scientific theories including psychological theories based on some specific meta-theoretical presuppositions which considerably influence the theory, and the differences among psychological theories, to some extent, reflect more fundamental differences among theories on these presuppositions. Since theoretical and philosophical presuppositions play an important role in evolution of scientific theories, it seems, changing these basic presuppositions and replacing them with metaphysical cultural assumptions as new foundations, can conclude paradigm shift in present scientific theories. In the present study, anthropological, psychological and methodological presuppositions of psychopathology and psychotherapy have been investigated according to Rumi's view, on the scope of helping to shape a new vision in these domains. Our research method is qualitative content analysis. Results have shown that, Rumi, emphasis on freedom of mankind and sees the individual as capable of fundamental change throughout life span .He believes Language is the main determinant of behavior. Rumi sees the tendency of man to growth and perfection as a way that leads him to actual health and elation. He believes mankind is generally in pathology situation, man usually misdiagnosis true self and is captured by physical attachment, egoistic tendencies and vain imagination which make him upset and distressed. Amplifying Pseudo self Puts a person at risk of pathology and make him ill. The process of therapy and getting rid of the pathology, is the process of loss and the elimination of the Pseudo self and gain the "bi khodi" that involves difficult encounter and is associated with tension and pain. In Rumi's view, language is so important and man’s mental is not separate from his language. Language especially story and narrative has consid, erable and important role in shaping the meaning, cognition and behavior and is considered as origin of psychopathology and psychotherapy. It’s the language which makes a person ill or heals him. Linguistic and narrative analysis is a suitable way to study human issues and psychopathology. Keywords: Rumi, psychopathology and psychotherapy, anthropological presupposition, psychological presupposition, methodological presupposition, language. Abstract

Besharat, M. A - Salehi, M - Rostamian, A - Ghorbani, N The aim of this study was to design and test the effectiveness of a couples oriented emotional-cognitive-behavioral intervention model and patient-oriented cognitive-behavioral intervention model of sexual problems in women with rheumatoid arthritis. The research used a quasi-experimental design with pretest, and post-test, and a 3 month of follow-up. The research samples consisted of 90 women with rheumatoid arthritis recruited from Imam Khomeini hospital’s rheumatology corridor as well as 2 rheumatology medical offices in northern and central Tehran. They were divided to three groups, including the first experimental group (intervention based on the couples-oriented emotional-cognitive-behavioral model), the second experimental group (intervention based on the patient-oriented cognitive-behavioral model), and the control group. The measuring instrument used was Golombok Rust Inventory of Sexual Satisfaction (GRISS-F) which was filled by participants at the pre-test, post-test, and 3-month follow-up stages. The inflammatory marker (CRP) levels also were measured through blood tests before and after interventions. The result of repeated measures analysis showed that both models can be effective, but in comparison with the patient–oriented intervention, the couple–oriented intervention seemed to have a more significant positive impact on the reduction of sexual symptoms. However, there was still no difference in the level of the inflammatory marker (CRP) in pre and post tests of the 3 groups. According to the findings, it can be concluded that the couples-oriented emotional-cognitive-behavioral intervention can be used as an effective intervention to reduce sexual problems in patients with rheumatoid arthritis even though it does not seem to have any impact on the inflammatory marker (CRP).

Abstract

Purpose: This study was carried out in order to compare and examine the effect of Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) training and Parent Management Training (PMT) on the children’s behavioral problems and the parents’ parenting style.

Methods: The present research was a quasi-experimental study using a pretest-posttest-follow up design with a control group. The study population consisted of all children with behavioral problems and their parents, in the elementary schools in city of Sanandaj in 2016.  Ninety individuals were selected through multi-steps random sampling method. Participants  were administered Conners Children’s Behavior Questionnaire (1990) and the Alabama Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire (PSDQ - 1996) in three phases. Parent management training was done in twelve 40-60 minute sessions, while positive parentling was done in eight 2 hour sessions, both for the two experimental groupsResults: In comparison to Triple P training method, PMT method had a higher effect on conduct, pro-social, psychosomatic, and shame-anxiety problems (p<0.01). PMT treatment had a higher effect on each dimension of positive parenting, warmth and involvement, physical coercion, and poor supervision, compared to Triple P treatment (p<0.01). After one month, the results of the follow-up indicated that there was a difference between the experimental and control groups in terms of behavioral problems and parenting style, and the effectiveness of the two treatment methods on behavioral problems and positive parenting was maintained after one month (p<0.01). Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that PMT method had a higher effect on behavioral problems, and Triple P had a higher effect on dimensions of parenting. These results are useful for psychotherapists and counselors with regard to selecting the type of intervention.

Abstract

Purpose: The present research aimed to study the effect of cognitive analytic therapy on the self-efficacy and interpersonal problems of women with dependent personality disorder. Methods: The present research was a quasi-experimental study with the pretest-posttest design. Subjects of the experimental group consisted of all women in Tehran aged 19 to 40 years of age who had referred to Azad University counseling centers (Roodehen branch), Tonekaboni counseling center, and researcher’s counseling office. They were selected after being recognized as having dependent personality disorder through Millon Personality Test. They were administered with ten cognitive-analytic therapy sessions, while those in the control group did not received the treatment. All subjects filled out the Sherer (1982) General Self-Efficacy Scale and the Barkham (1996) Inventory of Interpersonal Problems before and one month after the intervention. Findings: The results showed that cognitive-analytic therapy was significantly effective in increasing the self-efficacy and reducing the interpersonal problems of subjects in the test group (P<0.0001). The study findings indicated the effectiveness of cognitive analytic therapy in increasing the self-efficacy and reducing the interpersonal problems of women with dependent personality disorder. Conclusions: This approach can be used by mental health professionals for improving the symptoms of this disorder among Iranian women.

Abstract

Aim: Considering the prevalence of career problems in the helping professions, the aim of the present study was to investigate the career problems of social workers. Methods: This qualitative study was conducted using thematic analysis approach. The population included all the social workers of Shahrekord city, 17 of whom were selected through purposeful sampling until theoretical data saturation was reached. For collecting the information, semi-structured interviews were used. Atride-Sterling network theme analysis method was used to analyze the data. Findings: Social workers perceive career problems in three overarching themes: Intrapersonal problems, interpersonal problems and transpersonal problems. Intrapersonal problems included two organizing themes of emotional-sentimental problems (anxiety, general depression, burnout and violence), and physical problems. In the field of interpersonal problems, the themes of the organizer include: career problems transfer into the family and home, communication problems with clients (collapse of work and personal boundaries with clients, inability to manage clients' high expectations and cultural, educational and social problems of clients), problems related to lack of organizational commitment (feeling of discrimination and low conscientiousness of colleagues), problems related to the policy of the organization (change and diversity of the policy of the organization and the contradiction of the policy of the organization with the needs of clients). The reports of the social workers in the context of transpersonal problems also indicated that the problems related to the nature of the job (high volume of work, high challenge of work), problems related to working conditions (high noise, inappropriate ergonomics and pollution of the work environment) financial and welfare problems and the interference of living environment problems with job duties were the factors that led to career problems in this profession. Conclusion: Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that social work is a very challenging job and social workers are among the most vulnerable groups of society who experience many problems in various fields, where the involved related organizations can help them reduce these problems by using career counselors and psychologists, in addition to better comprehensive planning

Abstract

Aim: This research was conducted with the aim of designing and validating the Mentalization promoting program for parents of a child with type 1 diabetes and investigating its effectiveness on parents' reflective Functioning and emotional-behavioral problems of the child. Methods: A mixed method was used in this research. In the qualitative part, the mentalization problems of 18 children with T1D and 22 of their parents were extracted through the analysis of interviews with the method of transcendental phenomenology, and three general themes,18 main sub-themes and 50 sub-themes were obtained. Then, based on these themes and within the framework of the concepts of mentalization theory, a program to promote the mentalization of parents with a child with type 1 diabetes was designed. After confirming the content validity based on the CVI, with a semi-experimental method and a single-subject design of the type (A-B) with different subjects, 5 parents of children with diabetes who met the criteria for entering the research, were selected with a purposeful sampling method and participated in the program. The effectiveness of this program was assessed in four phases (baseline, during intervention, after intervention and follow-up) using the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and the Parental Reflective Functioning Questionnaire (PRFQ) and indicators of program goals. Then data was checked based on visual analysis indicators. Results: The final outcome of this phenomenological study is the extraction of three general themes, including the underlying factors of breakdowns in mentalizing, types of common mentalizing problems, and the consequences of breakdowns in mentalizing which became the basis for design the program to promote the mentalization of parents with a child with type 1 diabetes The results showed that the designed program, while having sufficient validity, was effective in increasing the parents reflective Functioning and reducing the emotional-behavioral problems of the child, and this effectiveness continued in the follow-up phase. Conclusion: Considering the validity of this program and its effectiveness, it is suggested that this program be widely implemented to help improve the physical and mental health of children with diabetes and their families, and also for children with other chronic diseases should also be adapted.

Abstract

Aim: The purpose of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of adolescent-oriented mindfulness training and positive psychological interventions on self-esteem and sleep problems of adolescent girls in city of Abadeh. Methods: The present research method was a post-event descriptive quasi-experimental study with control group. The statistical population of this research was all female teenagers studying in city of Abadeh, 45 of whom were selected through purposeful sampling and randomly assigned to three groups (adolescent-centered mindfulness training, positive psychological interventions, and control groups). The measurement tool was Cooper Smith's Self-Esteem Questionnaire and Pittsburgh's Sleep Quality Questionnaire. Findings: The findings showed that the relationship between pre-test and post-test in self-esteem scores and sleep problems is significant (p<0.05). Other results also showed that the main effect of the group is significant, which indicates that the main variables of the research, namely, self-esteem and sleep problems in the post-test stage, are significantly different in the two experimental and control groups (P=0.001). Conclusion: The results of multivariate and univariate covariance analysis showed that adolescent-oriented mindfulness training and positive psychological interventions increase self-esteem and reduce sleep problems in adolescent girls. Also, mindfulness intervention had a greater effect on increasing self-esteem and reducing sleep problems in adolescent girls than positive psychotherapy intervention.
