Abstract

Aim: This study was conducted to identify the factors affecting principals' and teachers' perceptions of the school counselor's role and explain its position and importance in the challenges of establishing the role of school counselors. Methods: The research method in this research is systematic and descriptive literature review. The statistical population of this study includes all valid scientific-research articles published in domestic and foreign journals in recent decades. The articles of this systematic review were found by searching the databases of Noormags, SID, Magiran, Ensani.ir Elsevier, Sage, Taylor and France, Springer, Wiley and M.D.P.I. Finding: 25 articles were finalized based on the inclusion criteria of the study. These articles were conducted in the form of action research methods, field research, Q method, experimental, focus group, interview, phenomenology, correlation, and grounded theory. The analysis of these studies showed that three categories of factors, including factors related to school and community, factors related to teachers and principals, and factors related to counselors are effective in the perception of principals and teachers of the role of school counselor. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the lack of awareness by principals and teachers about the evolving role of school counselors is one of the most important factors related to the contradictory perceptions of teachers and principals and the best way to solve this problem is to have a counseling council in each school. By informing principals and teachers about the role of the counselor and following the goals and program of the school counselor, this council will stabilize the role of the school counselor and facilitate the process of achieving the goals of education.

Abstract

Aim: This research was conducted with the aim of providing a comprehensive summary of empirical evidence related to complicated bereavement. Methods: This was a qualitative research using systematic review of sources. In this regard, initially, the research literature related to bereavement during the years 2000 to 2021 were examined. The number of 547 articles were identified as related. Finally, according to the entry or inclusion criteria, 42 studies were selected and examined in the final stage. Data were reviewed by two reviewers working independently, and examined using the tool proposed by PRISMA (2009). The reviewers compared the data and discussed disagreements to reach consensus. Consensus data were used in the final analysis. Findings: Finally, data was placed in two groups: Therapeutic factors (encouraging self-regulation, sharing pain with others or restorative retelling, facing or reviewing avoidant situations, reviewing positive memories of the deceased person and inviting negative memories) and risky factors (weakness in mourning rituals, little social support, negative meaning of loss) were placed. Conclusion: Social support is especially important in the treatment of people suffering from complicated grief.

Abstract

Aim: Marital quality is one of the important structures for predicting the marriage stability and marital satisfaction, but there is no agreement on its components. The aim of this study is to review Iranian literature on the subject of marital quality, to extract the marital quality components in these studies and to arrive at an integrated list of components. Methods: The research method was a systematic review and the statistical population included all research articles of marital quality in Iran during (2010-2022). The sampling method was purposeful and included searching and performing the screening process and evaluating the quality of articles, leading to the final analysis on thirty six articles. Findings: Results showed that marital quality components classified into six factors: divine spirituality in life, intimacy in relationships, adaptation in relationships, management and planning, fair distribution of power, and committed relationships. Conclusion: Based on the findings of this research, each of the factors related to marital quality can predict the stability of marriage and its satisfaction. Therefore, family counselors need to improve the six factors of marital quality in the relationship for spouses.

Abstract

Aim: Childbearing is a key component of demographic change and an important element of sustainable development, particularly in countries experiencing below-replacement fertility. In Iran, declining fertility has led to the adoption of new policies aimed at supporting population growth. Accordingly, this study aimed to systematically identify and categorize the psychological predictors associated with childbearing intention based on studies conducted over the past decade. ▌Methods: This systematic review included Persian- and English-language studies published between 2016 and 2026 on psychological predictors of childbearing intention. PubMed, Scopus, SID, and Magiran were systematically searched using combinations of keywords related to childbearing intention and psychological factors. Quantitative and qualitative studies relevant to psychological factors associated with childbearing were considered eligible. The search, screening, and final selection of studies were conducted independently by two reviewers. Of 402 initially identified records, 38 studies met the eligibility criteria and were included in the final review. The quality of the included studies was assessed using the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale. ▌Findings: The 38 included studies yielded two broad categories and 12 subcategories of psychological factors associated with childbearing intention. Factors associated with increased childbearing intention included positive attitudes and norms toward parenthood, perceived self-efficacy, marital satisfaction and emotional support, facilitating personality characteristics, identity-related motives, and positive emotions. Factors associated with decreased childbearing intention included negative attitudes and emotions, future and parenting anxiety, dysfunctional beliefs, individualistic orientations, psychological uncertainty, inhibiting personality characteristics, and negative schemas. Overall, factors associated with reduced childbearing intention appeared more prominent across the reviewed studies. ▌Conclusions: Psychological factors play an important role in couples’ childbearing intentions. Positive attitudes toward parenthood, self-efficacy, marital satisfaction, and emotional support may facilitate childbearing intention, whereas future anxiety, dysfunctional beliefs, negative emotions, and individualistic orientations may inhibit it. These findings underscore the importance of addressing cognitive and emotional factors alongside socioeconomic considerations. Psychological and educational interventions aimed at reducing future anxiety and dysfunctional beliefs while strengthening self-efficacy and positive attitudes toward childbearing may be useful in informing counseling programs and evidence-based population policies
