هدف: هدف این پژوهش بررسی پیامدهای روان‌شناختی ناباروری بر زنان نابارور بود. روش: پژوهش حاضر با استفاده از رویکرد کیفی و روش نظریه زمینه‌ای انجام شد. نمونه در این مطالعه 21 نفر از زنان نابارور بودند که با استفاده از نمونه‌گیری هدفمند انتخاب و مطالعه شدند. فرایند نمونه‌گیری نظری تا اشباع داده‌ها ادامه یافت. ابزار اصلی این مطالعه مصاحبه بود و اطلاعات جمع‌آوری و تحلیل داده‌ها به شیوۀ کدگذاری باز، محوری و انتخابی انجام شد. یافته‌ها: یافته‌های پژوهش حاضر نشان داد پیامدهای روان‌شناختی ناباروری به ترتیب عبارتند از: 1.درماندگی درمانی 2.احساس پوچی 3.خودسرزنشگری 4.برون ریزی هیجانات شدید منفی 5.اختلالات روان‌شناختی 6.مصرف داروی اعصاب 7.افکار خودکشی 8. انزواطلبی 9.مشاجره با همسر به خاطر احساس تنهایی 10.خانه‌های سوت و کور. به نظر می‌رسد زنان نابارور وضعیت روان‌شناختی نامساعدی را تجربه می‌کنند. نتیجه‌گیری: یافته‌ها شامل 6 مقوله اصلی و یک مقوله هسته تحت عنوان زایش ناتوانی شد. زایش ناتوانی اشاره به این مفهوم دارد که زنانی که تجربه ناباروری دارند به مرور زمان و به دلیل مواجهه با پیامدهای ناباروری ممکن است در بقیه جنبه‌های زندگی خود نیز احساس ناتوانی داشته باشند. تبیین نتایج به‌طورکلی نشان‌دهنده وجود «زایش ناتوانی» و احساس پوچی در جامعه هدف بوده است که نهایتاً منجر به اختلالات روان‌شناختی، مصرف داروهای روانپزشکی و خانه‌های سوت و کور می‌شود.
